Monica Flores
Senior Director, Youth Education Services
Monica has been with the agency since “Mommy and Me” classes with the Parenting Center. As a teen she started her career as a Youth Worker with Kids Korner and Pioneer Day Camp. Through the years, she worked her way up as an Afterschool Supervisor, Unit Head then Assistant Director of Explorer Day Camp and Administrative Assistant to the After School Programs. While moving up the ladder, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting in 2016 and then her Masters of Science in Education in School Counseling in 2020 from Queens College. During her schooling, Monica was a part of/ran the Peer Counseling program at Queens College and did her internship with the SAFE Program at John Bowne High School. These opportunities helped her grow in her counseling skills which prepared Monica to become the Outreach Coordinator at Beacon 216 in 2020. Here she supported students and families with SEL as well as providing resources to better the community. As of September 2022, Monica became a Senior Director of Youth Education. In this role, she is the fiscal liaison for the division as well as oversees our 21st Century afterschool programs and Community School at PS 16. In her free time, Monica is learning how to be a Mom to her new baby girl Lyla, born February 2024. She loves spending time with her family while also an avid comedy podcast listener and Real Housewives fanatic.
